Editorial Director

Kate Ankofski

Kate came to Hillcrest Media Group from Simon & Schuster, where she edited trade fiction and nonfiction titles and worked with bestselling authors, including Bob Greene, Jennifer Chiaverini, and Pam Lewis. A Michigan native and a graduate of the Ohio State University, Kate began her publishing career with Brighter Minds Media, a children’s publisher in Columbus, before moving on to political science and economics monographs at Palgrave Macmillan. At Hillcrest, Kate heads up our editorial department, which oversees projects for BookEditing.com, Mill City Press, and Hillcrest Media.

Editorial Manager

Robert Schmidt

Robert has been writing, editing, and proofreading his entire life, doing it professionally since the early 1990s. Robert is a Fulbright scholar and was—once upon a time—a finalist for a Rhodes scholarship, as well. His graduate work in composition and rhetoric earned him an MA from Miami University (OH), studying under some of the country’s most noted grammarians. His studies also include a degree in French, and coursework in technical writing and the contemporary American novel. Robert coordinates the editing process for BookEditing.com, Mill City Press, and all of the divisions of Hillcrest Media Group, matching up projects with editors.

Assistant Editor

Amy Sleper

Amy brings experience from her work with the Minnesota Book Awards, Milkweed Editions, the University of Minnesota Press, Ivory Tower Magazine, and the University of Minnesota’s Center for Writing. Before joining Hillcrest Media Group in 2016, she marketed academic textbook and reference resources with Fortress Press in Minneapolis. Amy’s love for books began at an early age, and she went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities with a BA in English literature and with studies in technical writing. She enjoys creative nonfiction, poetry, contemporary fiction, and literary classics.
